Reclaiming Luxury for the African Sanctuary
Born out of a conviction that our living spaces deserve furniture with soul, cultural provenance, and enduring South African craftsmanship.
The Vision of Khanyisa Mhlongo
For decades, the luxury furniture landscape across South Africa has been saturated with foreign imports. Mass-produced couches constructed from disposable composite boards flooded high-end homes—pieces devoid of story, identity, or connection to the African continent.
Founded by Khanyisa Mhlongo under BlaqOnyx (PTY) LTD, NubiFurn was created to answer a fundamental question: “What does authentic contemporary African luxury look and feel like?”
The answer lies in our land, our indigenous timbers, our storied textile traditions, and the hands of master artisans who have perfected woodworking and upholstery over generations.

From Limpopo Woodcarvers to Gauteng Master Upholsterers
NubiFurn is not a factory assembly line. We operate a distributed artisan collective across South Africa:
Limpopo Woodcarving Workshop
Our frames begin in Limpopo, where generational master carpenters shape kiln-dried South African Saligna hardwood. Every joint is doweled, screwed, and corner-blocked to guarantee decades of structural integrity.
Johannesburg Upholstery Atelier
In our Gauteng studios, multi-density SABS-approved foams and heavy-duty serpentine spring cores are tailored with premium South African velvets, tactile bouclés, and bespoke jacquards.
The Pillars of NubiFurn
Our unyielding standards for every couch bearing the NubiFurn mark.
Heirloom Timber Guarantee
Zero particle board, MDF, or cheap pine frames. We exclusively utilize solid kiln-dried Saligna hardwood built to last generations.
Made-to-Order Production
Each piece is handcrafted specifically for your sanctuary within 2–3 weeks. Custom length and width adjustments are executed with care.
White-Glove Delivery
Our dedicated logistics team delivers, carries, unwraps, and inspects your furniture directly in your home across Gauteng, Western Cape, and KwaZulu-Natal.
